Assistant Director- Place
Job Description
Ipswich is a town with a rich heritage and an exciting future. As a regional centre, we play a vital role in Suffolk’s economic success. This is the perfect time to join us. We have developed a new corporate strategy and operating model that maximises the many opportunities available to us and defines our core purpose to champion our community and revitalise our town.
We are proud to be championing our community and revitalising our town. As Assistant Director, Place you will play a vital role in delivering our number one priority: revitalising our town centre, as well as leading improvements across the borough.
You’ll be responsible for the delivery of our £25m Towns Fund Programme which is investing in projects that will improve Ipswich and its economy. This is your opportunity to shine and share our pride in Ipswich.
As Assistant Director, Place, your leadership will guide long-term place-making and place-shaping in collaboration with colleagues and partners. You will be connecting employment, education and skills, business, and investment through long-term strategies.
With a focus on inward investment and the built environment, you will work to attract businesses, investors, innovators and high-quality house builders to Ipswich. You’ll lead our response to the national building safety crisis, particularly about fire safety within flats and other complex structures.
Your proactive and creative approach will ensure that our property portfolio contributes significantly to our aspirations for regeneration and development. You’ll also oversee the delivery of capital projects in the built environment – projects which help us to build a better borough.
Ensuring all our services work together to support thriving new communities and businesses will be a critical success factor in this high-profile role in our corporate leadership team.
