The Business Support Unit (BSU) supports teams across housing and public protection, so you never know what’s coming up next. We are now back in the office and raring to make a start on our new process redesign. If you are a great communicator, quick to learn and ready for a challenge, then this could be the job for you.
Duties
- Management – day to day line management of Business Support Officers, mentoring and leading staff to reach their full potential. Absence and disciplinary management in accordance with IBC procedures.
- Deputising for Business Support Manager in her absence.
- Working closely with the Business Support Manager to implement efficiency improvements.
- Allocating work and monitoring results for the BSU team supporting Housing and Public Protection.
- Admin duties – to provide full support for all generic admin support functions for Public Protection to agreed service levels.
- To ensure regular liaison with Managers to review performance against service levels, obtain agreement on additional support requirements and jointly agree solutions to any issues or service delivery failures.
- To assist the Business Support Manager with the financial and business administration of Housing Services including Business Planning, annual rent increase, housing related support and future government initiatives, and completing government returns as required.
About you
- You will need excellent IT skills (full training will be given on Ipswich Borough Council’s bespoke systems) and advanced Excel skills would be an advantage.
- If you are well organised, reliable, able to meet deadlines and have excellent communication skills with the ability to build and establish relationships, then get in touch to discuss your next career move.
- A positive, proactive can-do attitude is a must.
This job will require a minimum of 2 days per week at Grafton House, so you will need to be flexible as set days cannot be guaranteed.
Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.
