Do you have the qualities required to work within a focused team supporting Health & Safety Compliance across a wide range of service areas with an emphasis on health and wellbeing, ideally with a background knowledge of event safety?
We are looking for a professional self-motivated person who has an eye for detail. Assisted services range from Waste Management, Parks & Cemeteries, Sport, Customer Services and Parking services, amongst others.
This role will focus heavily of ensuring the safety and compliance of our events programme, ensuring Health & Safety and Licencing legislation is adhered to all our events, creating an exciting opportunity throughout the year to be part of a range of Ipswich Borough Council designed and delivered events, as well as commercial, community and charity events taking place in the town.
What you can expect from the role
You will have the opportunity to be part of a team focused on further developing a proactive safety culture across Ipswich Borough Council. You will play a central role in ensuring excellent Health & Safety compliance, whilst developing systems to further improve performance in this area.
You will be responsible for undertaking Safety Audits as part of a team, documenting and following up on findings.
You will work with the team continuing to manage the safety management system, ensuring compliance with legislation and local policies.
Working closely with the Events team the successful candidate will be responsible for gathering safety information relating to each event. With careful consideration to aspects such as licencing, Risk Assessments & arrangements for safe working, as well as third party documentation for traders, contractors, and attractions. You will be required to attend meetings, Safety advisory groups and attend events to ensure safe systems of work are met.
Reporting to and supported by the Corporate Health and Safety Manager you will be involved in undertaking incident investigations, safety reviews, training and risk assessing.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for a positive person who can demonstrate they have practical experience in effective problem solving.
Someone with a great work ethic, an eye for detail and the ability to deliver results in a fast-moving environment.
You will ideally have a previous background in safety and possess the NEBOSH general certificate.
Previous experience of the events world would be of benefit.
Flexible working including some weekend and evening work will be essential in this role.
