An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our successful Recovery Team. We are recruiting a Court Officer to the Shared Revenues Partnership, collecting Council Tax, Non-Domestic Rates and Housing Benefit overpayments for three Local Authorities. The role includes preparation of Court cases, presentation at Court and negotiation with debtors.
Day to day
Based in Grafton House, Russell Road, Ipswich, you will ensure that all recovery tasks are completed to an agreed timetable, prepare court papers and evidence for cases to be referred to the Court and in the case of non-payment, take decisions to implement further recovery including attachments, enforcement agents, committals, charging orders and bankruptcy as appropriate.
You will be corresponding and negotiating with customers and businesses in line with our Debt policy, often resolving complex queries, providing explanations and clarification of decisions, giving specialist advice and guidance relating to legislation, policies and procedures.
- 2 years’ qualitative experience and either 1 A level or 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English) or an NVQ level 3 in a related field
- Up to date knowledge of Revenues legislation or experience within a similar field
- Experience of collecting debts and preparing court papers
- Knowledge of Court procedures
- Ability to organise, prioritise, analyse, and work to tight deadlines
- Ability to approach work flexibly and on your own initiative
- Good communication, numerical and presentation skills
