An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in Ipswich’s Electoral Services Team which supports the delivery of the Council’s electoral registration service and organises elections within the Borough. The implementation of the Elections Act 2022 is currently taking place, which has brought about a number of significant changes to electoral processes and has created opportunities for innovation and creativity for the team.

Experience of working in electoral services is desirable, as is local government administration experience. We are looking for someone who is interested in electoral processes, can communicate confidently with a range of different people, is self-motivated, organised and has excellent attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when working to deadlines and under pressure. You will need to be confident in using IT and working with various software packages.

This is a career grade post and you will have the potential to develop your skills and knowledge through a Career Grade Training Plan and Association of Electoral Administrators qualifications. Ultimately we are looking for someone who is committed to developing their career in electoral administration.

A flexible attitude to working practices and hours is also required around election and canvass periods.

The selection process will be a written exercise and interview. Interviews will be held on 4 and 5 July 2023.

The assessment interview process will be carried out remotely via Skype for Business, Microsoft teams or in person.
