We are currently looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join the Emergency Services Centre (ESC) team as an Emergency Services Centre Team Leader. You will work as part of a dedicated team providing a 24/7 service for Ipswich Borough Council.

The Team Leader will provide leadership and line management to complement the existing team to support the day-to-day operation of a thriving Control Room.  You will have specific responsibility for the CCTV elements of the service as well as supporting management and staff across the Home Emergency Alarm Response Service (HEARS) and the Out of Hours service.  You will need to maintain the highest standards of customer care and service provision in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures. The post holder will be required to work with a high level of autonomy and manage employees working on a 24/7 duty rota.

Day to day

You will be based in the Control Room leading the day-to-day operation of the 24-hour CCTV system and will provide leadership and line management to the team of ESC Officers. This will require work with staff teams, internal departments, partner agencies, contractors, and customers.

The nature of this fast-paced role requires strong leadership and decision-making skills, excellent planning, organisation and problem-solving skills and a sound knowledge of health and safety. 

The job role is based in the Emergency Services Centre (ESC) Control Room in Grafton House.

PLEASE NOTE: The Team Leader role is on a management rota where you will work weekends on a set rota pattern with the other Team Leaders. You will also be required to work occasional evenings. You can work one day a week from home subject to sufficient management cover being available in the Control Room.

Shift and Rota Patterns

You will be required to work 37 hours per week which includes set weekends and occasional evening work to support the 24/7 service.

About you

You must be highly motivated, flexible in your working hours, used to handling pressure, able to make quick decisions and have excellent communication skills. You will have strong teamwork skills and previous experience of successfully managing and motivating employees.

You will have the ability to prioritise work and adhere to tight deadlines whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy. You will also have excellent customer service skills, demonstrable experience of managing staff and excellent IT skills.

You will be educated to HND/HNC/NVQ 5 level and have three years’ experience of working in a fast paced, customer focused environment.

Knowledge of CCTV systems and compliance would be advantageous along with the ability to manage CCTV related projects and other activities.

A good knowledge of a broad range of IT and web-based applications is required.

You will need to hold or be willing to train for a Public Space CCTV Surveillance SIA licence.

A full UK driving licence and Police Vetting Clearance will be required for this post.
