This is an exciting opportunity to join a very successful team delivering an Out of Hours Environmental Health service within the borough of Ipswich.
The job role involves undertaking investigations and site visits to resolve cases of statutory nuisance by using the full range of enforcement powers, as well as giving advice and through education in accordance with Council policy, procedure and legislative framework.
The post holder will be required to work a shift pattern over 7 days, which includes daytime shift work during normal officer hours Monday-Friday and out of hours’ shifts from 6pm to 2am Monday-Sunday, including Bank Holidays; an extra 1/3 unsocial hours allowance for hours worked between 10pm and 2am is provided.
You should have a minimum of 5 GCSEs and a HNC in a professional field. In addition, you will need to have experience in carrying out inspections, interventions and enforcement work, interpreting and applying legislation; as well as having experience in legal proceedings including court proceedings. The post holder will be required to work a shift pattern, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Category B and C1 driving licence is required for this role.
Hours are an average of 37 per week and will be worked on a shift rota basis Monday to Sunday, including Bank Holidays over a 3-week shift pattern.
