
Parking Officer (Admin & Appeals)
Parking Services are looking for a self-motivated, highly customer focused individual, to work within the Processing Team.
Job Description
Parking Services manage:
- Provision of car parking in the Council’s car parks and within on-street parking bays.
- Manage residents’ parking schemes across the town, including the provision and management of residents parking permits.
- The enforcement of on street parking spaces throughout the town and within the Council’s car parks.
- Maximising the collection of money to the Council from parking fees and from enforcement.
- The Processing Team are responsible for the administration of the service, such as Penalty Charge Notice debt recovery, and appeals, issuing of parking permits, virtual parking offers and case management.
Day to day
As a Parking Officer you will be part of the office team that supports the Civil Enforcement Officers. You will be responsible for managing the second stage of the Penalty Charge Notice process, considering appeals, and writing responses, and progressing cases through to debt recovery, in accordance with relevant legislation. You will also respond to telephone calls, letters, and emails from the public regarding the legislation surrounding penalty charge notices and permits, assess permit applications, reconcile machine takings and process banking.
About you
You will have proven experience working in a customer-based environment with excellent negotiation skills. Previous experience of working in a parking environment is not essential, it is more important that you can demonstrate your customer service experience with the ability to assist customers, and maximising debt recovery.
You will need excellent computer skills, with the ability to navigate multiple systems and extract data and information.
You will be required to obtain a Level 3 Award for Notice Processors (Parking) which is essential to your job role.

Hours of work are 20 per week over 3 days – Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
