Principal Auditor

Full-time Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Internal Audit team at Ipswich Borough Council.  We are seeking to appoint an experienced Principal Auditor to join our forward thinking and professional Internal Audit Service.

Job Description

Your role will be to assist the Internal Audit team in delivering high quality Internal Audit Services and good governance across the Internal Audit Services Partnership.  The postholder may be required to provide audit work to East Suffolk Council as part of the Audit Partnership between Ipswich Borough Council and East Suffolk Council.

Day to Day

Your responsibilities will include undertaking complex, specialist, and high-risk audits, providing consultancy advice and guidance upon risk and good governance.  You will supervise the audit team, mentoring, supporting, developing, and training members of the team.  You will also be required to deputies for the Audit Management team and represent Audit Management at Committees as appropriate.

About You

You will be IIA/CCAB qualified equivalent, with proven experience in delivering internal audit services at a senior level.  You will ideally have supervisory experience, the ability to communicate complex issues to non-experts and be able to establish and maintain excellent working relationships.

Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday and DBS clearance is required for this role.

The selection process will be psychometric testing followed by interview.  Interviews will be held on 9th May 2023.

The assessment interview process will be carried out virtually using Microsoft Teams.
