
Senior Community Safety Officer
Part-time Position
Ipswich Borough Council operates a range of services for residents, organisations and visitors to Ipswich, from cultural and community activities to education and environmental services and everyday facilities like car parking and refuse collections.
Job Description
Working with key stakeholders and partners to protect those visiting, living, and working in Ipswich, this challenging and highly rewarding role will lead in the delivery of projects and activities that complement the priorities of the Ipswich Community Safety Partnership and other county-wide Strategies. The role will include benchmarking and research to help inform strategies and policies to develop and deliver strong safety campaigns, projects and problem solving activities and will bring partners together to successfully combat issues that include PREVENT, domestic abuse, hate crime, anti-social behaviour, serious violence, modern slavery, criminal exploitation etc. The postholder will have line management responsibilities and will be required to deliver training to IBC staff and partner agencies.
About you
You will have significant knowledge and experience of community safety work, project management and research. You will be highly organised, self- motivated with solid interpersonal skills.
You will have the ability to plan, prioritise and organise your time to ensure deadlines and targets are met. Your flexible approach to work with a willingness to adapt as circumstances change is essential for this role. You will have the ability to form strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders with the confidence to challenge decisions to ensure community safety needs are met. You will have excellent communication and problem solving skills and have the confidence to represent the council at meetings and forums.
The successful applicant will be an excellent team player who is creative, organised, proactive and has a great work ethic. You will also have the ability to deliver creative and effective communications and have experience of managing staff.

This post is offered on a permanent basis, hours of work are 18.5 per week, Monday to Friday.
