This is an exciting opportunity for a talented, dynamic and ambitious Senior Planner to work within the Special Projects team on large-scale and challenging planning applications and projects.

The current focus for the Special Projects team is the delivery of the Ipswich Garden Suburb, which is a 3,500 dwelling mixed-use scheme. A masterplan is in place and the outline permissions for more than half the houses have been granted. Initial phases have Reserved Matters consent, and houses and infrastructure are now being built. This is therefore an ideal time to join our team and play a key role in delivering the project and having a positive influence on the quality of the development as we move into the detailed planning stages for the next phases of development.

Day to day

The role offers invaluable experience of larger, strategic projects within a small close-working team dedicated to dealing with large scale projects. The work is varied and will include the monitoring of condition details and S106 obligations to ensure requirements have been met, as well as contributing to strategic planning work. The workload may vary and involve working on other large or complex projects as and when needed. This is a unique chance to gain broad experience of strategic development and make a real difference.

About you

You will be an enthusiastic and proactive Town Planner, holding a degree or postgraduate diploma or NVQ level 6 in planning or a relevant field plus 3 years qualitative experience.  You will also have effective project management skills and a real desire to shape and improve the built environment. The role will require a skilled communicator who has experience of dealing effectively with a range of stakeholders. The successful applicant will have experience of handling a broad range of complex development proposals within tight deadlines.  This post offers a range of benefits including:

Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.

This post is offered as maternity cover for 12 months.
