As part of the Public Protection service area, you will provide a range of regulatory and enabling functions that affect the daily lives of people living, working and relaxing in Ipswich. The service is aimed at protecting and improving public health, the local environment and quality of life.
This post will be based within the Environmental Protection team. The role will involve a range of functions relating to environmental protection, particularly within the field of air quality.
Day to day
Your duties will include the enforcement of environmental health legislation by the undertaking of inspections and investigations as a result of enquiries, service requests, complaints or as a matter of routine; determining and taking necessary action to ensure compliance with appropriate legislation through advice, education and where necessary service of statutory notices and legal proceedings; as well as providing technical assistance in the specialised areas covered by the team, particularly for air quality.
About you
You should have an NVQ level 5 or HND in a related field or relevant qualitative experience. You will need to have had experience of dealing with people in a sensitive, empathetic and mature manner and have the ability to assimilate complex information to arrive at logical solutions to a range of problems.
A category B driving licence and C1 for medium sized vehicles are required for this post.
Hours of work are 27 hours per week, preferably Tuesday to Friday.

The selection process will be an interview. Interviews will be held week commencing 13th March 2023.
The assessment interview process will be carried out remotely via Skype for Business, Microsoft teams or in person.
