We have an exciting role within the Rough Sleeper Initiative project, providing support to former rough sleepers who have multiple complex needs and a poor tenancy history. The role would suit a dynamic individual who is looking for a fixed term contract to enhance their support skills and to work within a multi-agency team environment.
The role is for a Tenancy Support Officer – Housing First. Working with 7+ tenants to provide intensive support to maintain their Housing First tenancies, liaising with various agencies to ensure the support is maximised to achieve the customers set goals.
Housing First is a national project with an aim to provide a home and support to individuals who are hard to house and to engage, who may have tried many other housing solutions and support packages.
Day to day
Provide advice, support, and assistance to tenants with complex and multiple needs to manage and sustain their tenancy. The post holder will seek to empower tenants to maintain their tenancies, by, working in partnership with various agencies, including Rough Sleeper Initiative partners, Drug and alcohol services, Adult Care Services, Financial Inclusion Advisory Service (FIAS), Mental Health Service and the National Health Service as well as voluntary and other statutory bodies. This may include attending meetings and making presentations. A flexible working approach will be needed to support the needs of the tenants and delivery of the service.
About you
You will require Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent skills. An up-to-date knowledge on debt advice, welfare benefits, income maximisation alongside effective homeless prevention initiatives. Have a good knowledge of rough sleeper initiatives and an understanding of the client group.
Whilst previous experience of front-line interviewing within a demanding environment, applying the Housing Act 1996 Part VII, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, the Homelessness Act 2002, the Localism Act 2011 and related legislation is desirable, full training will be provided to the right candidate who can demonstrate the qualities and skills required for this role.
A full driving licence is essential.
