Job Description
This is an exciting time to join Ipswich Borough Council’s Fleet Team. Transport process and system upgrades are underway, a new Depot is planned, an exciting Carbon reduction programme is ongoing and anticipated changes to the Waste and collection services across England will undoubtably allow the successful candidate to be involved in the future of Waste collection equipment in Ipswich. We are looking for a self-motivated, inventive, and experienced administrator with a desire to drive forward performance through efficiencies in process and delivery.
Reporting to the Transport Manager, this role is part of a well-established but outward looking administrative team playing an integral support role in Ipswich Borough Council’s Corporate Fleet. The role ranges from coordinating the day-to-day availability, compliance, and utilisation of the fleet; VOR processes and contractor management, to researching the future fleet requirements for the Borough including arranging trial vehicles and future fuel technologies. Ipswich Borough Council has an exciting and proactive fleet replacement plan and key ambitions for carbon neutrality by 2030.
The primary function of the role centres on the Council’s Fleet, but the role also supports The Waste and Cleansing team, a key front-line service, with administrative support.
About you
You must have experience of working in an administrative environment. Comfortable with Microsoft programmes such as Excel and Teams. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and in a compliant and confidential manner. Ideally you will have some knowledge of Transport Administration, but this is not essential. Experience working in local Government is again desirable but not essential.
Ultimately, we are looking for someone who is committed and passionate with the enthusiasm, organisational skills and determination to help drive exciting change and deliver results.
As well as a good salary, we offer a career average pension scheme, generous holiday and sick pay entitlements, subsidised parking, public transport discounts, free swimming, cycle purchase scheme, plenty of personal and professional development opportunities, flexible working, hybrid working opportunities, Employee Assistance Programme and the opportunity to work with great colleagues.
Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.
