Working from Gipping House, Hadleigh Road Industrial Estate you will be working in a small team carrying out all vehicle administrative support to the Ipswich Borough Council Fleet. Working with established IT systems you will be monitor usage, administer maintenance events, produce vital reports monitoring carbon footprints, analysing cost and vehicle usage reports amongst other daily tasking.
Reporting to the Transport Manager, the successful candidate will have the opportunity for a challenging and rewarding career in local authority, supporting Transport Operations across the borough of Ipswich, including front line vehicles with the benefit of fixed hours offering a positive work life balance, working 9-5 daily with no requirements to work weekends or bank holidays.
As part of the Transport Team, as well as day to day administration you will have the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of vehicle operations, from Testing new technologies, new vehicle platforms and developing the carbon neutral future of the council.
You will use existing IT platforms to inform on vehicle usage, account for vehicle maintenance and invoicing, running costs, arranging Ad hoc repairs, arrange for replacement vehicles either through existing unused fleet or hire vehicles with a weather eye on cost, process all vehicle defects and ensure all O-Licence vehicle files are current with all maintenance accounted for. As part of your role using existing IT systems, you will monitor and arrange driving licence checks, ensure all vehicles are operating with Road Fund Licence and process any insurance documentation as a result of vehicular accidents.
You will have experience working within transport operations carrying out associated administration. A knowledge of the waste sector is desirable but not essential and transport operations in government or public sector. You will have awareness of new technologies with an understanding of transport operations and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively across services, engaging with other departments to resolve issues and suggest practicable solutions to vehicle issues.
You will have experience with different IT systems and a good knowledge of Microsoft applications with an appropriate level of education to a minimum of GCSE standard. Attendance on CPC OLAT would be desirable however not essential as this can be achieved whilst in post.
Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.
