Assistant Benefit Officer
You will be responsible for maintaining and amending claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction in line with the relevant regulations and schemes. You will be determining and calculating overpayments of Housing Benefit and adjustments of awards to Council Tax Reduction.

Based in Grafton House, Russell Road, Ipswich, you will be responsible for maintaining and amending claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction, making decisions, and taking the necessary action on claims where there is an overpayment of Housing Benefit or adjustment of Council Tax Reduction.
- 2 years’ qualitative experience and either 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English) or an NVQ level 3 in a related field
- Up to date knowledge of Housing Benefit Regulations or experience within a similar field
- Ability to organise, prioritise, analyse and work on your own initiative
- Ability to approach work flexibly with a can-do attitude
- Good communication skills and a strong customer focus
Experience of using Revenues and Benefits software systems is desirable
Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.
DBS clearance is required for this role.
This is a hybrid working role (a minimum of 1 day per week working in the office).
