EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME
Telus Health One (formerly known as Lifeworks) is an employee assistance and wellness programme brought to you and your family free of charge to help you manage personal and work issues. Consultants are available 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, with counsellors also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT DISCOUNTS
Buses
IBC have discount arrangements with two major bus travel providers in Ipswich:
- Ipswich Buses
- First Eastern Counties
This includes the Park and Ride service which operates from 2 locations on the edge of Ipswich, with stops close to Grafton House and in the Town Centre.
Discounts can be up to 75% of normal ticket prices
Trains
IBC have discount arrangements for rail travel with Greater Anglia.
Discounts can be up to 60% of normal ticket prices.
Interest Free Season Ticket Loan
The scheme is available for all IBC employees, including those on fixed term or temporary
contracts, as long as the season ticket loan does not exceed the length of the contract of
employment. Loans are available for tickets costing between £100 and £4995 per year. The
loan is repaid via payroll before the expiry date of the season ticket, so is repaid over the
season ticket period less one month.
CYCLE PURCHASE SCHEME
Ipswich Borough Council (IBC) runs a salary sacrifice bike scheme which is provided by Cycle scheme.
Cycle scheme are an independent company and the scheme enables employees to purchase bikes from independent local retailers who have signed up to the scheme
GENEROUS HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT
From 25 days holiday (exc. Bank Holidays) with an additional 5 days given after 5 year’s local government continuous service.
SUBSIDISED PARKING
Discounted parking costs are offered to all IBC employees via the MiPermit app.
MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AIDERS
We have employees across the organisation who are trained as Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA), and equipped to help colleagues in need of support with their mental health.
You may choose to contact an MHFA to:
- Discuss something that’s impacting on your mental health
- Provide a listening ear for early concerns about your, or a colleague’s wellbeing
- Chat if you need to discuss a possible mental health concern
