Business Support Apprentice

Full-time Position

We invite you to join our team as a Business Administration Apprentice based at Gipping House. The role is to primarily assist the Business Support Team Leader to ensure the effective administration of Maintenance and Contracts, while gaining a wide range of experience as part of working towards your Apprenticeship qualification.

Job Description

Maintenance and Contracts are responsible for maintaining the Council’s Housing stock and delivering front line services for repairs, maintenance and adaptations.

We invite you to join our team as a Business Administration Apprentice based at Gipping House. The role is to primarily assist the Business Support Team Leader to ensure the effective administration of Maintenance and Contracts, while gaining a wide range of experience as part of working towards your Apprenticeship qualification.

Day to day

Assist with a range of business support tasks:

    • Opening, scanning, and distributing mail, answering telephone calls and dealing with minor queries as appropriate, processing of purchase orders and related invoices, maintaining records and preparing statistical reports, taking notes and minutes at meetings and assisting with complaints.

    • Updating documentation and ICT systems, project support tasks as required by the team, whilst working to deadlines.

    • Maintaining training records and assisting with the maintenance of departmental procedure/process manuals.

    • Assist in the provision of statistical information for performance and management information reports.

    • Managing diaries to ensure all work is correctly allocated to Craft Operatives.

About you

Maintenance and Contracts are ideally looking for a candidate with:

  • 5 x GCSE Grade 4-9 including English and Mathematics
  • Understanding of IT systems, including Microsoft Office package
  • An ability to work well under pressure and communicate effectively, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail and a willingness to learn on your own and from others

Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday between 8 am – 5 pm, working flexibly.

This post is offered on a fixed term basis for 18 months.

Interviews will be an online interview and assessment.

Consideration will be given to applicants still in education with a start date in early summer.
