Information Governance Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Legal and Democratic Services team and work at the heart of Ipswich Borough Council as an Information Governance Officer.  You will work alongside the Senior Information Governance Officer, and your area of focus will be responding to requests for information.  You will also have the opportunity to assist with data protection matters. You will work alongside the Senior Information Governance Officer, and your area of focus will be responding to requests for information. The role is hybrid with the requirement being a minimum one day a week in the office.

You will be responsible for responding to requests for information, maintaining relevant Information Governance records (e.g. Freedom Of Information request log) and liaising with service area champions for information and exemptions.  You will provide advice and support to service areas on information governance topics including Freedom of Information and Data Protection.

It is desirable but not essential that you are experienced in Information Governance matters however you should have a broad understanding of a range of Information Governance requirements. You must be customer – focussed and have a responsive approach. You must be able to organise and prioritise your workloads and meet deadlines, and a high level of attention to detail is essential. 

Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.

The selection process will be an interview. Interviews will be carried out in week the commencing Monday 15th January 2023 and will be held in person at Grafton House in Ipswich.
