Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work in the Licensing Team which deals with alcohol and entertainment, scrap metal, gambling, street collections, lotteries, pleasure boats, animal welfare, taxis/private hire and more.

Day to day

You will:

  • Support the line management within the Licensing/Health & Safety Team in the delivery of the licensing functions and assist with the implementation and delivery of policies and systems
  • Administer licensing income including taking card payments and monitoring of unpaid fees for recovery
  • Research and help prepare committee reports that go to Licensing & Regulatory Committee
  • Interpret, co-ordinate and implement licensing policies and procedures
  • Prepare material for publication and/or our website to help applicants and other stakeholders
  • Liaise with applicants, Responsible Authorities, outside organisations, senior officers and colleagues regarding applications and deal with queries about relevant legislation
  • Maintain the Licensing Team’s filing system and databases
  • Assess applications and grant in accordance with delegation

About you

Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent or NVQ level 2 and/or 3 years qualitative experience including proven level of technical experience and organisational knowledge & experience in a relevant field such as licensing or other regulatory activity.

A proven level of technical and organisational knowledge as well as proven experience within a licensing or other customer service role, the ability to use relevant technology, a knowledge of licensing legislation, effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team or on own initiative.
